Syed Muaz Shah
Director Centre for Human Rights, Ziauddin University
Muaz is a lawyer, public speaker, and academic. He graduated from University of London with an LLB. He has an extensive experience working in the NGO sector which started with working with refugees based in the US.
More recently his focus has been on women and child rights with organizations such as UNWOMEN, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and others. He has helped train over 1000 criminal justice professionals on issue of GBV survivors access to justice in Pakistan.
He has helped dozens of abandoned children find loving homes through his international adoption work.
He has worked on draft legislations on a national level in Pakistan on Anti-Honor Killing and Anti-Rape and currently working on Women Property Rights legislation in Sindh. He is a practicing arbitrator and certified mediator working primarily in family law.
Currently serving as the Director at the Centre for Human Right in the Faculty of Law at Ziauddin University, Karachi, Pakistan where he teaches Human Rights and Islamic Jurisprudence. He is also heading Project Adal at the Faculty of Law to provide training to over 500 criminal justice professionals on Women Leadership Resilience, Self-Efficacy, and Crisis Negotiation using technological tools in post-Covid environment.
