Nicola Mendelsohn CBE

Vice President, Facebook EMEA

Named as one of the Most Inspiring Women in European Tech, Nicola Mendelsohn is the advertising powerhouse who holds Facebook’s most senior position outside the US,

Nicola Mendelsohn is Facebook’s Vice President of Europe, the Middle East and Africa - the company’s most senior position outside the US.

Born in Manchester, she graduated in 1992 from the University of Leeds in English and Theatre Studies and joined the advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

 

In 2004, she was appointed Deputy Chairman of Grey London, and European Business Development Director of Grey Communications. From 2008, she was Partner and Executive Chairman of Karmarama, until she joined Facebook in 2013.

Mendelsohn became President of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in 2011. In 2014, she was among GQ's 100 Most Connected Women in Britain, and 85 on The Jewish Chronicle's Power 100 list. She was named one of the Most Inspiring Women in European Tech by the Inspiring Fifty organisation in 2015, and included in Debrett's 500 People of Influence.

In the Queen's Birthday Honours 2015, she was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for Services to the Creative Industries. And since 2012, she has been Industry Chair at the Creative Industries Council. She is also a Director of Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and a Non-executive Director of Diageo.

She is Co-President of Norwood - a Jewish charity supporting vulnerable children - and has held posts on charities working to prevent violence against women. She lives in North London with her husband and four children.
