Dr. Aljunaidy was born in Hama city in Syria. Despite the conservative atmosphere of the place she was born in, where women are not usually supported to study and become highly educated, Dr. Aljunaidy challenged the rules and managed to finish her studies and graduate as a medical doctor from Damascus University. Dr. Aljunaidy did not stop at that level, she travelled to the UK where she obtained her Master Degree at Manchester university in the Department of Maternal and Fetal Health. Then, she successfully finished her PhD in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alberta/Canada. Her research focused on improving maternal health and was published in top international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
