Journalist

Abbianca Makoni is a journalist with a strong interest in crime and investigations.​

​

Her work includes an investigation into the hidden child victims of lockdown, a solution focused documentary looking into the girls exploited into criminal gangs and the effects of period poverty on street children living in Zimbabwe. 

​

She has also taken 'deep dives' exploring south east Asia's notorious Hydra gang and reported on the issue of the illegal wildlife trade in Africa.

​

Her words can be found in the Evening Standard, The Independent, I Paper and other regional and national newspapers. She can also be seen broadcasting short video reports breaking down the latest current affairs.​

She was shortlisted for the 'Young journalist of the year' award at the Society of Editor's press awards 2020 and won the Top scoop award at the NCTJ.
